A SAFEQ Cloud Gateway can be installed as a software appliance using the approach described in the following section.
The software appliance can be a Virtual Machine (VM) running at any Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) provider, e.g. Amazon EC2 or Microsoft Azure. For this guide we will explain the detailed steps of installing SAFEQ Cloud Gateway using VMware.

Using virtual appliances allows for extremely rapid provisioning of SAFEQ Cloud primary or secondary gateway servers, and cleanly decouples the operator from the consumer by encapsulating all knowledge of the application within the virtual appliance.

The choice of specific Gateway virtual hardware specifications is simply based on the number of users and printers installed. Additional gateways can be configured for scaleability or availability.
