For local authentication provider it is possible to define custom local groups and to edit the user membership for these groups. When local authentication provider is selected in the Users section there is a button Local groups visible:

Local groups are useful to define access controls for the large groups of local users. Local groups can be added, deleted and modified in the same way as all other objects in SAFEQ Cloud. There is one default local group defined called “Local users” which includes all local users.

When editing a local group it is possible to define group membership. Group membership can be also changed in the user settings.

The following group settings can be changed:

  • Group name – a group name
  • Group ID – a group ID which must be unique per account. If left empty the server will assign a randomly generated ID. This ID can be used in the API calls to lookup the group or change group membership
  • Group membership – allows to choose which users will be part of this group

After the group is defined it is possible to add it in the access controls so the local user permissions can be defined based on group membership.
