Server Requirements
The following are required for a successful SAFEQ Cloud installation on Linux:
- SAFEQ Cloud is supported on:
- Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL): Recent LTS versions, specifically RHEL 8 and RHEL 9.
- CentOS: Versions 7 and 8 (CentOS 8 installations supported only up to December 2021).
- Rocky Linux 8.10 and 9.
- SUSE Linux Enterprise Server (SLES): Versions 12 and 15, specifically recent LTS versions.
- Ubuntu: LTS versions 20.04, 22.04 and 24.04.
- Debian: 11 & 12 Stable versions.
- Only 64-bit Linux versions are supported.
- Support for Linux on IBM System z mainframe platform (s390x) has been removed.
- A server with the following minimum specifications:
- Minimum 4 cores/CPU’s of recent generation server grade CPU processor. 8 cores are recommended
- Minimum 8 GB of RAM memory available to YSoft SAFEQ Cloud. 16 GB is recommended.
- Minimum 20 GB of free hard disk for print spooling and processing on /var directory or filesystem (more disk space will be required for large document volumes being retained)
- Minimum 5 GB of free hard disk for logs and application itself on /opt directory or filesystem
- Root account access for installation
- The following libraries/tools are required:
- Ghostscript (only required for PCL printing)
- DNS configuration for any local internal servers and gateways
- If using an external Postgresql database cluster, a default system database called “postgres” must exist
- If you wish to use Wide Area Mobile Print, you cannot install your secondary gateway on a server with a third-party DNS server.
Recommended server sizing
There are no clear rules for server scaling, since it all depends on the printing volume, number of users, but the below are general recommendations for most scenarios
1-25 printers | 26-100 printers | 101-500 printers | 501-1000 printers | |
---|---|---|---|---|
CPU | 2 cores/CPU’s | 4 cores/CPU’s | 4 cores/CPU’s | 8 cores/CPU’s |
Memory | 4 GB | 16 GB | 16 GB | 16 GB |
Hard disk | SSD 64 GB | SSD 128 GB | SSD 256 GB | SSD 512 GB |
